Job Title: Part Grinder (Plasma Helper)

Department: Production

Classifaction (FLSA): Hourly

Position Overview

The Part Grinder (Plasma Helper) performs entry level or repetitive grinding machine operation duties, assists with loading and unloading tables and deburr parts as required and operating overhead cranes.

Essential Job Functions
  • Positions work pieces to be processed securely on table, manually or using hoist or crane
  • Operating a forklift
  • Marks/tags identification on material/work pieces as required
  • Marks material after processing
  • Identifies equipment and material needs
  • Cleans work area
  • May assist in performing quality control visual inspections
  • Counts finished work pieces to determine if product order is complete
  • May complete work order documentation/paperwork
  • Transports parts to inspection area
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Work Environment

Physical:

  • Environment is that of a heavy industrial work site
  • Outdoor elements are a factor
  • Exposure to air particles, such as dust, chemical (paint, oil, gas, diesel fumes) and weld smoke
  • Exposure to loud, penetrating noises in some work areas
  • Proper personal protective equipment is required at all times, such as, steel toed or metatarsal boots, ear plugs/ear muffs, safety glasses, pants, hard hats and possible respirator use.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel, such as keyboarding and writing.  
  • The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk and hear.
  • Must have visual acuity to read tape measure, reports, memos, letters, etc. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently. 
  • Must be able to speak and communicate clearly.
  • In a typical workday, employee is standing, walking, seeing, hearing, grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, lifting work pieces weighing up to forty (40) lbs. manually or by crane to work area and properly positioning it for processing the orders.

Educational and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (Required)
  • Previous work experience in a heavy industrial or construction environment is preferred; however, it is not a requirement
  • Knowledge of various types of construction and or heavy equipment operation preferred
