Position Overview
The CNC Plasma Operator will be assigned to operate and set up conventional or computer numerical control (CNC) machines to fabricate parts, applying knowledge of shop math, machinability of materials and drawings. Operation of overhead cranes.
Essential Job Functions
- Read blueprints and determine measurements to the 16th
- Ability to run overhead crane and safely operate machines
- Forklift operation
- Know weight of cut part and determine weight of raw material components in order to transition material in a safe manner
- Basic computer knowledge of Window type operating system
- Perform daily operational checks and perform cleanup at beginning and end of shifts
- Make minor adjustments to programs
- Ability to meet production schedule
- Download programs via disc, flash drive or direct connect
- Perform cuts and required nesting as defined by production
- Knowledge of MDI and shape library
- Accurate completion of production and Quality Control sheets
- Accurate completion of work order based on production schedule
- Ability to read operator’s book and make appropriate parts correctly
- Change all parts in torch head
- Record progress in job book
- Ensure all workers are properly trained and adhering to safety specifications
- Troubleshoot Plasma to Operators level
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Work Environment

Physical:
- Environment is that of a heavy industrial work site
- Outdoor elements are a factor
- Exposure to air particles, such as dust, chemical (paint, oil, gas, diesel fumes) and weld smoke
- Exposure to loud, penetrating noises in some work areas
- Proper personal protective equipment is required at all times, such as, steel toed or metatarsal boots, ear plugs/ear muffs, safety glasses, pants, hard hats and possible respirator use.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel, such as keyboarding and writing.
- The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk and hear.
- Must have visual acuity to read tape measure, reports, memos, letters, etc.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently.
- In a typical workday, employee is standing, walking, seeing, hearing, grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, lifting work pieces weighing up to forty (40) lbs. manually or by crane to work area and properly positioning it for processing the orders.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Ability to read, comprehend and write English
- Advanced blueprint reading and problem-solving skills required
- Intermediate math skills (fraction/ decimal calculations)
Educational and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (Required)
- Previous work experience in a heavy industrial or construction environment is preferred; however, it is not a requirement
- Knowledge of various types of construction and or heavy equipment operation preferred
